Writing

Throughout my time as a student at the Manship School of Mass Communication, the importance of clear writing was emphasized constantly. In my courses and professional opportunities, I have honed and streamlined my writing skills, emphasizing creativity, clarity, and correctness. Below are a few samples of my work.

Theatre Baton Rouge - "Steel Magnolias"

As a part of my public relations writing class, each student group was asked to contact a client and provide public relations deliverables for them. Our client was Theatre Baton Rouge, and I worked on this press release in order to promote their upcoming show, "Steel Magnolias." As a result of our efforts, TBR had a successful show with nearly all tickets sold for all seven performances.

McQuain Group Spokesperson Announcement

I had the pleasure of working with the McQuain Group, a small PR firm specializing in strategic communication, in the summer of 2024. As a part of my PR writing course, we were asked to write a hypothetical press release using a client of our choosing. Because of my previous experience with the company, it made perfect sense to highlight my knowledge of the company to create a press release.

The Body in Motion -
Manship Olympics Project

In summer 2024, I was provided with the outstanding opportunity to attend the Manship Olympics Project, a study abroad program where students were able to produce their own stories covering the Olympics in Paris. I was able to interview a museum curator and several attendees of the exhibit "The Body in Motion" at Petit Palais, a nonprofit museum in Paris. This exhibit highlighted the intersection of art and sport through the lens of Olympic athletes.

Festival International de Louisiane Feature Story

As a part of an experiential learning program called Geaux Manship with the Manship School of Mass Communication, I was invited to travel to Lafayette, LA, to cover Festival International de Louisiane, the largest free international music festival in the country. Using my media pass, I spoke to countless Festival volunteers, board members, and even musicians to put together this audio feature story about how volunteers create the atmosphere that festival attendees know and love.  I utilized Adobe Audition to create this audio feature.

Kyle Stanley - Manship School of Mass Communication Teaching Assistant Feature

After having Kyle Stanley as my teaching assistant for a course during my freshman year, I knew that he was someone special. Through the use of Taylor Swift's music and a positive attitude, Stanley creates a class experience that is inclusive, entertaining and unforgettable. I was allowed to write a feature on him for my Media Writing course, and it was a pleasure getting to tell his story as a graduate student at LSU Manship School of Mass Communication.

Every Chapter, EveryLibrary LSU Bateman Team PR Campaign Booklet

The Bateman competition, sponsored by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), allows public relations students from around the country to develop a public relations campaign for a client.

This year, our client was EveryLibrary, a nonprofit political action committee dedicated to protecting and advocating for libraries. In a political climate where libraries and the books in them are subject to funding cuts and censorship, we felt it was crucial to uplift libraries and demonstrate their lasting impact on us throughout every chapter of our lives. Below is our campaign booklet that secured our honorable mention win in the national competition

"I cried in the Musée d'Orsay: The impact of art" - Manship Olympics Project

This blog post highlights my experience visiting the Musée d'Orsay as a part of the Olympics Project in Paris. I was brought to tears when I found Les Bleus Danseuses by Degas in the corner of the museum. It was such a wonderful experience, and I loved being able to describe the emotions I experienced seeing one of my favorite works of art in the flesh.

"POV: You spend over 72 hours in an airport." - Manship Olympics Project

As a result of the global IT outage, our entire group experienced flight cancellations and rebookings. After spending over 72 hours in an airport, I wrote a blog post that highlighted our experience and all of the things I learned from our challenges and setbacks.

"Why I Dance: The Effect of Social Media on the Identity of Dancers"

My undergraduate thesis, "'Why I Dance': Effects of Social Media on the Social Identity of Dancers," explored the intersection of social media, dance and identity through conducting in-depth interviews and launching a discourse analysis to learn how social media content impacts dancers' self-esteem and creates community. Using my research findings, I created a social media campaign for the LSU Dance program. I founded the program's Instagram in November, and in a four-week implementation period in March, I created 37 posts and generated 105.4k views and almost 800 followers for the account. Countless hours were spent researching, gathering content, scheduling posts, and writing, and I couldn't be any more proud of the result.
